I am a born and bred Lexingtonian. I grew up with my mom (Jane) and 3 younger sisters (Stephanie, Marianne, & Alicia). I attended MQ grades K-8, Lafayette HS, and UK Gatton College of Business. I have a Bachelor of Accounting degree and am currently working in the Business department at Lexington Catholic. My daughter Sophia just graduated from Lexington Catholic and is continuing her education at Liberty University. My grandparents, Victor & Evelyn Mondelli, are lifelong MQ parishioners. Yes, this is the Mondelli of Mondelli’s Bakery (Alexandria Dr). I always had the best b-day cakes growing up! I am honored to serve the Catholic Diocese through my continued work at LC and my new position with MQ.
My name is John Becerra and I was born in Colombia in 1983. I am the oldest of three siblings. My parents live in Colombia as well with my siblings. I went to Primary School at Sacred Heart School where I was introduce to the Holy Mass on Fridays morning and since them I started growing the desire for the Catholic Religion. Years later I went to the parish church to receive catechesis for first communion. I still remember that day. Years later I went to High School and I met a priest there. A newly ordained priest who invited me to become a priest but I was too young to understand what was to become a priest. That idea stayed in my heart for many years and after feeding that desire at my local parish I decided to look for a priest to guide me in the process of formation into the priesthood. I joined the Seminary and I did my college education there. Years later I met a priest who went to visit his family in Colombia. This priest was serving in Wisconsin at that time. He invited me to come to serve the community here in The US and after praying, reflection and meditation I came to the conclusion that was God asking me to leave my land as he did ask to Abram and I left Colombia in 2010. I came to continue my priestly education here in the states and after learning the language I was ordained deacon and since them I have been serving the Church and God’s people where he wants me. Now I am here in the Diocese of Lexington discerning my next step into the priesthood and to serve you all with my entire heart and soul for the good of our Holy Mother Church in this local community. I look forward to meet you and to know you as we growth together knowing the Lord and building his Church as one family. Keep me in your prayers and do not hesitate to reach me.
